Broken Line I + II
archival pigment print with polystyrol cuboids

The barren landscape of Fuerte Ventura is crossed by a broken line. This line shows a road, which is secured with concrete blocks towards the slope. In the image editing program Photoshop there is the lasso selection tool, which has the same appearance as the dashed line of the road. In addition to the horizontal line of the road in the image motif, there is a second dashed line that crosses the image diagonally.

This line consists of tiny polystyrol cuboids that are glued onto the surface. The line follows the mountain slope, but then continues in the sky. Another association is the dashed line, which marks boundaries on maps or represents walls in architectural plans.
